In response to Antony Gormley’s work, on the West Front of Wells Cathedral, children in local schools will create their own figures, using clay. Location will be a significant aspect in the perception of their work - which will reflect Gormley’s thinking behind the position of DOUBT.

Starting in the Spring 2023 KS1-3 pupils from local schools will participate in a project designed by Dan Vidler that will be on display in the Cathedral during the May bank holiday. Instructions for making your own clay figure can be found here

“I have chosen this niche for its position and its visibility: the book at the end of the bookshelf. The work attempts to invoke the feeling of being isolated and exposed on this corner of a Gothic masterpiece.”
